The client came to us basically looking for a design partner to handle all of their design needs. They already had a website, but it didn’t have the type of professional look and feel they were after for their business, so that was the first step.
We made minimal modifications to the logo, and moved straight into a new and updated design for the website. For this, we had an in depth briefing conversation with the client where we listened to what they were trying to achieve, discussed the pros and cons of competitors’ websites, and worked out the kind of professional image they wanted to portray that would set them ahead of the game.
The first step in the design process was to complete the design of the main home page of the website (the page that loads when you first load a website).
After the client approved the homepage we then designed a cross section of other pages based on the style, look and feel of the homepage.
The final step was then to add in the final text and images, and make the website live.
A few months later the client asked whether we could design a brochure based on the website branding, that they could reuse the design of, for more projects into the future. “Of course!” We said. They provided a basic mockup they had worked out, and we got to work with basically the same stepped approach as the website design. Brochure design tends to be a lot more unique from page to page than a website often is, so we initially designed the inner and outer front and back cover as well as the contents page. Once the client approved these we went on with the rest of the design.
We then reused those design styles 6 months later for a second project, and so on.
Lastly, we also designed the signboard the client uses on the properties, and they even sent us a photo. So weird to see something we’ve done not on a computer screen but in the real world!
The online marketing campaign begins at the same time the initial logo designs does. This is a time for setting up Google assets such as a temporary landing page on the domain, Maps, Google my Business, Analytics and other things to eventually ensure that when the website goes live, it does so with its best foot forward. After that we employ a number of strategies to steadily improve the business’ rankings, with the aim of eventually landing on the lucrative first page of Google, as soon as possible. Social media networks can be a great way to market your new business especially if you have a good offer that people might be interested in. However, like any marketing strategy, it should not be the ONLY strategy and we often suggest Facebook marketing in conjunction with other strategies.
